Scientific Director: Prof. Dr. Rolf Arnold

Prof. Dr. Rolf Arnold is Professor of Educational Science at the University of Kaiserslautern and focuses in particular on vocational and adult education methodology. He is also Scientific Director of the Distance and Independent Studies Center (DISC) at this university, spokesman for the Virtual Campus Rheinland-Pfalz (VCRP), as well as Chairman of the Supervisory Board at the "DIE" German Institute for Adult Education in Bonn.

His research focuses on the fields of adult education, school-based vocational training, professional education and training, development of learning/training systems (e.g. distance learning degrees), intercultural vocational training and emotional learning.
 

 

Deputy Scientific Director: Jun.-Prof. Dr. Matthias Rohs

Dr. Matthias Rohs is a Junior Professor for adult education with a focus on distance learning and e-learning at the University of Kaiserslautern. Since January 2017, he has been Deputy Scientific Director and Head of the Department for Development and Transfer of the Distance and Independent Studies Center (DISC). His research focuses primarily on adult education, in particular on internal and scientific further education such as learning with digital media. Furthermore, he concerns himself with matters relating to informal and guided self-study as well as professionalization of the field of adult education.  

Managing Director: Dr. Markus Lermen

After completing one Magister degree (comparable to a current Master's degree) at Saarland University and another at the University of Kaiserslautern, Dr. Markus Lermen then gained his doctorate in the Social Sciences department at the University of Kaiserslautern. Additionally, he is recognised as a systemic consultant (SG) by the trade association "Systemic Society" He has been running the DISC since 2010.

His work focuses primarily on the fields of adult and further education, learning and training with (digital) media, distance-(e)learning as well as systemic paedagogy and consulting.
